Workshops organised as part of the EIT RawMaterials BrineRIS project are not only about stationary lectures but also practical field trips that significantly expand our knowledge. At the last meeting in Barcelona, we had the pleasure of participating in three fascinating optional excursions, led by Geociencias Barcelona del CSIC (GEO3BCN-CSIC), which allowed us to explore geothermal brine sampling areas. We visited the historic mining areas of the Sierra Almagrera and the Cuevas de Almanzora castle on a pre-workshop trip and visited the Caldes de Montibui with nearby geothermal sites on a post-workshop trip. Each of these exciting trips was packed with valuable information about the geology and history of the sites sampled as part of the BrineRIS project. We would like to once again extend our sincere thanks to the CSIC for organising such extraordinary trips, which were an added highlight of the workshop in Barcelona.
